Main features of the study is: (i) To study irrigation projects and find out the reasons for non-performance of reservoirs as per designed parameters; (ii) To study the catchments area and work out the interruption in inflow of water, i.e., construction of anicuts and check dams, WHS works constructed and other construction activities which obstruct the flow of water in the reservoir including charge of course of water. (iii) To suggest the remedial measure for the above deficiencies and action plan to overcome the deficiencies. (iv) To inspect entire canal system including main canal and distribution network & to assess the present discharge carrying capacities between various control points as compared to design discharge. Identify spots which require de-silting repair, remodeling, etc. and to suggest types of repair required, prepare water schedule and canal rotation programme as per requirements of intensity of irrigation and cropping pattern and also suggest alternative cropping pattern. (v) Water auditing for the irrigation schemes. (vi) Training of technical staff
Activities performed: Hydrological assessment of catchment of the irrigation project; command area evaluation; reservoir operation; estimation of optimal cropping pattern of the command area; hydrological, socio-economical, and financial performance evaluation of projects; water auditing of canal distribution system and field plot study for the evaluation of conveyance efficiency of the distribution system and field application efficiency to finally evaluate the overall project efficiency of the project.
